Nov 15, 2018 – TribalNet announces the recognition of two IT teams for their 10th Annual Industry Awards. The awards were presented during a luncheon ceremony held on Nov 7 at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Las Vegas during the 19th Annual TribalNet Conference and Tradeshow. One award recipient was named in each of the following categories: Tribal Business/Enterprise, Tribal Government and Member Services. TribalNet had called for nominations earlier this summer and each application was reviewed by the TribalNet Advisory Boards, made up of IT leaders and executives among Tribal Gaming, Tribal Government and Tribal Health. This peer-to-peer recognition has become a long standing tradition and one that marks a high level of prestige, now in its 10th year.

The Pearl River Resort IT Department received the award in the Tribal Business/Enterprise category based on the work they did to become the very first Tribally owned and operated Sportsbook in the US. Their Executive Director, Cheryl Smith, had this to say in response to being honored with the award, “On behalf of the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians and Pearl River Resort , we are honored to receive this award, as it is a reflection of our teamwork and commitment to providing technology to users and customers with a side of southern hospitality. Our IT team will be beaming with pride for being recognized with this prestigious industry distinction.“

The Squaxin Island Tribe Information Services Department received the award in the Tribal Government and Member Services category. They were recognized for the work they did to create a dark fiber network to connect all locations with enough bandwidth to administer their entire valley. “A recognition like this is universally understood by all. It helps to build trust with our decision makers, that even without fully understanding they still listen, thus improving the overall relationships we have with all of our stakeholders as we work to build meaningful and purposeful collaboration.” Morgan Rothrock, IT Manager Squaxin Island Tribe.

Previous award winners include: Casino Arizona/Talking Stick Resort, Forest County Potawatomi Community, Cherokee Indian Hospital, Cherokee Nation Businesses IT Department, Soboba Band of Luiseno Indians IT Department, Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community IT Department, Mohegan Tribe IS Team, Viejas Information Technology Services Team, Pechanga Resort & Casino IT Department, Trinidad Rancheria IT Department, Blue Lake Rancheria, Yurok Tribe IS Department, Snoqualmie Tribe, Confederated Tribe of the Umatilla Indian Reservation, Chickasaw Nation IT Department, Isleta Resort & Casino IT Department, Sacramento Native American Health Center, Inc. (SNAHC) IS Department, Nottawaseppi Huron Band of the Potawatomi (NHBP) IT Department, Mille Lacs Corporate Ventures IT Department, and Forest County Potawatomi IT Department.

TribalNet will announce the call for 2019 Industry Award nominations in the Spring. IT teams working in Tribal Gaming, Government or Health are encouraged to apply. The 2019 Industry Awards recipients will be recognized during the 20th Annual TribalNet Conference, being held Nov 11-14, 2019 at the Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center in Nashville, TN.
